Committees

The Diversity Committee serves as advocates and as an advisory board for the diverse community of parents, students and caregivers of the Dobbs Ferry schools.

The Green Team works with the Outdoor Classroom & Garden at Springhurst to run community events focused on gardening, sustainability, recycling and zero-waste.

The Special Education Committee is interested in better understanding the special education needs of our district and better addressing them through our work.

The Membership Committee works to retain current PTSA members while recruiting new ones and welcoming them into our community. They also communicate with membership to determine what they want as members and what we can do better. Rivertown Parents is a consortium of the PTSAs of Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Hastings-on-Hudson, Irvington and Sleepy Hollow/Tarrytown, along with Mercy College. Our mission is to promote and foster communications in the Rivertowns among parents, children and schools, and to provide educational resources to the community at large. The goals of this program (K-5) are to increase students’ knowledge and understanding of people with different abilities, to provide hands-on experiences that increase awareness and to develop empathy for the challenges these individuals may face.
